Introduction to Engineering - Truss Bridge Design Essay
Prologue to Engineering - Truss Bridge Design - Essay Example Prologue to Engineering - Truss Bridge Design This model effectively attempted to hold wanted burden and adequately satisfied the heap opposition characteristics that a handy extension must have. Catchphrases Truss connect, connect rivalry, connect model, connect security. Presentation Bridge configuration is the key piece of structural designing and generally basic also. It is intended for transportation of substantial traffic; in the interim, it is developed to adapt to ecological impacts like tempests. There are numerous kinds of extensions that are being utilized the world over, among them most basic are curve spans, brace spans, support spans, cantilever spans, link stayed spans, moveable scaffolds and suspension bridges(SWE, 2012). The kind of scaffold that we consolidated in our structure is the support connect. These are the most seasoned and the most practical extensions found the world over with magnificent weight bearing capacity(BuildingBig, 2010). Atypical support connect is demonstrated as follows: Specialty of bra cket spans is the triangular components present in the structure to share the heap applied on the scaffold by the traffic(JHU). In a run of the mill bracket connect plan the even individuals are liable for bearing burdens because of flat just as powerful pressure. In our extension structure we utilized Popsicle sticks to make support individuals just as the base of the scaffold. These sticks were combined by utilizing paste. Where required, the sticks were sliced to the necessary lengths for making triangle structures of the scaffold. For giving solidarity to the plan, the sticks were stacked over one another in 3 to 4 layers and the entire structure was made which is demonstrated as follows: Before concluding the above scaffold plan, we tried various extension structures before too by utilizing west point connect plan, however every one of those plans fizzled while testing. By utilizing key methods to structure down to earth spans dependent on load dispersion blunders were decreased and thickness of brackets and different individuals was expanded. This offered security to the extension structure. After that we began working in the structure of the extension. For that reason the primary assignment was to choose the suitable material for develo ping bracket connect which works out in a good way for our dimensional necessities. Along these lines, popsicle sticks were picked as a favored material. After that all the sticks were set apart at the purpose of applying paste. Starting advance was to plan the base casing of the structure wherein three layers of sticks were utilized. Here is the perspective on one base structure. Complete two rails were made for the extension. Subsequent to organizing the base following stage was to structure the rectangular support part of the extension. For that reason initial two stages of base structure were utilized; to gather popsicle sticks and sticking them together. From that point onward, triangular parts were organized and combined. These brackets were then associated with the base rails as demonstrated as follows: Last advance was to interface the get together of both the supports and base rails to one another by utilizing popsicle sticks and sticking them to the base. Thusly the last s tructure was drawn. Results and Discussion In the structure of first extension, absolute 145 popsicle sticks were utilized and the subsequent load of the scaffold was determined to be around 198.3lbs. The structured extension

An Open Letter to the Teacher Who Encouraged Me to Write
An Open Letter to the Teacher Who Encouraged Me to Write To the teacher who made me want to be a writer: Not a single day goes by that I donât think of you and the lessons you taught me the summer before my senior year of high school. Though I never even had you as an English teacher during the school year, Iâm so grateful for the short amount of time I did get with you when you mentored me on my college application essay. Without it, I know that I would not be the writer or person that I am today. I always felt like I was a pretty good writer. And by that I mean I always did well on writing assignments in school. But until you read my writing, I didnât realize how much power words can carry, how much of a person can be contained within the sentences they lay out, even if theyâre not aware of it themselves. I prepared what I thought were meaningless blurbs about my mundane, everyday life as a form of brainstorming. However, when you read them, you picked one out almost instantly and turned to me, saying âI sense a lot of pain here.â Out of utter shock and the sudden realization that you were right, I burst into tears right then and there. Iâd never confronted my own pain, let alone been confronted by someone else about it. And I certainly had never imagined that my words could reveal and communicate the deepest parts of me to a careful reader. From that moment, writing became so much more than just this mechanical process of conveying arguments and ideas. It became like therapy. Iâd never managed to be so introspective and vulnerable until then because I didnât think any good would come of it. Thank you for teaching me otherwise, for letting me cry in front of you on a daily basis in order to work through everything Iâd been holding in for years, for showing me how to convert all the baggage into something tangible and useful. Today, I continue to strive to be as open as possible with myself and in my writing. It has not only helped me improve as a writer, but it has also helped me in learning to understand and love myself, which used to seem almost impossible. Thank you for believing in my writing and making me promise to continue doing it. To be honest, I didnât really have any intention of writing much after high school, despite how cathartic it had proven to be. I was moving across the country and leaving everyone I knew behind to study biology (in which only scientific writing is involved), so I was relying on getting a fresh start and never needing to look back or write for myself. I could not have been more wrong. Finding myself back in a place of pain and doubt, the promise I had made to you but never kept suddenly came back to me. It bothered me that I hadnât kept that promise, so I endeavored to begin writing once more. Again I made myself vulnerable, and again I took everything I was carrying with me and attempted to turn it into something tangible. And this time around, I realize that this is something I need to be doing continuously, certainly for myself, but maybe for others as well. Before you even taught me anything about writing, you had words of advice that made a huge impression on me and that I continue to repeat to myself now whenever I feel down about how my life is going. I was a teenager who had never really failed at anything before, and that made me somewhat entitled as a young person. At the time, I wouldnât have imagined a teacher telling a group of students about to embark on a new stage in life not to put all their hopes on one path, but you did. It honestly felt like a slap in the face at first, but you also told us that even if we didnât end up where we thought we wanted to be, we would still end up where we were supposed to be. And having now experienced a lot of failure since then, this idea has become a major light in the darkness for me. And now that Iâve begun writing again and been lucky enough to find a platform to share my words with others, everything you taught me has come together and I finally feel that I truly am exactly wher e I am supposed to be. I know that there are many writers out there who have been inspired and encouraged by amazing people just like you. So thank you for being a part of this special group of teachers and mentors. And thank you, on behalf of all of us young writers, to everyone out there who has helped us cultivate our individual voices.

Review of Social Psychology Book by Claude Steele
Claude Steele, in his book ââ¬Å"Whistling Vivaldi,â⬠sheds new light on how pervasive stereotypes can influence individualââ¬â¢s behavior and academic performance, and how they perpetuate in different social groups. Stereotype threat, as defined by Steele, is ââ¬Å"being at risk of confirming, as self-characteristic, a negative stereotype about a social group one identifies with.â⬠(Steele, 1997) It is a general phenomenon ââ¬â standard predicament of life ââ¬â that springs from intersubjectivity. (p.5) We tend to spontaneously categorize and label people according to their social groups. Whenever someone is placed in a situation where a certain stereotype can be applied to themselves, they can be judged and treated accordingly. When individualsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦For example, Asian males are under the stereotype that they excel in math. When Asian males who are relatively weak at math (compared to others in the group) are exposed to such identity contingencies, they may be facing the fear of disconfirming the groupââ¬â¢s positive stereotype and result in low performance. The pressure to perform as well as expected may create anxiety from the possibility of being the atypical subtype of the group. Also, Walton has proposed a theory of stereotype lift, which is enhancement in performance when people are exposed to negative stereotype. (Walt on Cohen, 2003) To strengthen the conclusions of the research, collecting samples across populations with varying aspects should be considered. Since stereotype threat has proven to be such a big factor affecting stereotyped individualsââ¬â¢ academic achievement, many researchers have turned their attention toward reducing such threats. Psychological intervention allowing minority students to become less susceptible to negative stereotypes about the groupââ¬â¢s abilities significantly improved their performance at school for a long time. Encouraging self-affirmation allowed people to affirm their self-worth and perceive themselves as good and competent, improving their performance at school and reducing accessibility of racial stereotypes. Statistics on Child Sexual Abuse
Child sexual abuse is such a devastating crime because its victims are those least able to protect themselves or speak out, while those who perpetrate it are most likely to be repeat offenders. Many pedophiles follow career pathsââ¬âincluding the clergy, athletic coaches, and counselors of troubled youthââ¬âthat provide them with a steady stream of underage victims, while simultaneously and ironically, earning them the trust of other adults. The following facts and statistics, drawn from the National Center for Victims of Crime Child Sexual Abuse fact sheet, reveals the scope of child sexual abuse in the United States and its devastating long-term impact on a childs life. Underreporting Perhaps the most troublesome aspect regarding child sexual abuse is that its a significantly under-reported crime thats difficult to prove or prosecute. Most perpetrators of child molestation, incest, and child rape are rarely identified or brought to justice. According to the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), almost 80,000 cases of child sexual abuse reported each year fall far short of the actual number. Abuse frequently goes unreported because child victims are afraid to tell anyone what happened and the legal procedure for validating an episode is difficult. Child Sex Abuse Percentages by Gender and Age Children are most vulnerable to sexual abuse between the ages of 7 and 13. In the May 1997 issue of Pediatric Annual, Dr. Ann Botash estimated that 25% of girls and 16% of boys experience sexual abuse before they turn 18. Statistics for boys may be falsely low because of reporting techniques. 67% were under age 1834% were under age 1214% were under age 6 Offenders are Often People Children Know and Trust Bureau of Justice Statistics from 2000 revealed that all victims of sexual assault reported to law enforcement agencies, of offenders who victimized children under age 6, 40% were under age 18. 96% were known to their victims50% were acquaintances or friends20% were fathers16% were relatives4% were strangers How Poor Parenting Affects Child Sex Abuse Sociologist and researcher Dr. David Finkelhor, who specializes in child sexual abuse and related topics, notes that its often a parents connection (or lack thereof) to his/her child puts that child at greater risk of being sexually abused. Despite what children are taught about stranger danger, most child victims are abused by someone they know and trust. When the abuser is not a family member, the victim is more often a boy than a girl. The results of a three-state study of reported rape survivors under age 12 revealed the following about offenders: Parental inadequacyParental unavailabilityParent-child conflictA poor parent-child relationship Psychological Ramifications of Early Sex Abuse AACAP findings indicate that a child of five or older who knows and cares for the abuser becomes trapped between affection or loyalty for the person and the sense that the sexual activities are terribly wrong. If the child tries to break away from the sexual relationship, the abuser may threaten the child with violence or loss of love. When sexual abuse occurs within the family, the child may fear the anger, jealousy or shame of other family members, or be afraid the family will break up if the secret is told. How Perpetrators Influence or Intimidate Their Victims Child sexual abuse involves coercion and occasionally violence. Perpetrators offer attention and gifts, manipulate or threaten the child, behave aggressively or use a combination of these tactics. In one study of child victims, half were subjected to a physical force such as being held down, struck, or violently shaken. The Impact of Incest Girls are the victims of incest and/or intrafamily sexual abuse much more frequently than boys. Between 33-50% of perpetrators who sexually abuse girls are family members, while only 10-20% of those who sexually abuse boys are intrafamily perpetrators. Intrafamily abuse continues over a longer period of time than sexual abuse outside the family, and some formsââ¬âsuch as parent-child abuseââ¬âhave more serious and lasting consequences. Recognizing Signs of Child Sex Abuse Behavioral changes are often the first signs of sexual abuse. These can include nervous or aggressive behavior toward adults, early and age-inappropriate sexual provocativeness, alcohol consumption and the use of other drugs. Boys are more likely than girls to act out or behave in aggressive and antisocial ways. Chronic depressionLow self-esteemSexual dysfunctionMultiple personalitiesDissociative responses and other signs of post-traumatic stress syndromeChronic states of arousalNightmaresFlashbacksVenereal diseaseAnxiety over sexFear of exposing the body during medical exams When Kids Abuse Kids According to research commissioned by the Justice Department from the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire, more than one-third of all sex crimes against juveniles are perpetrated by other juveniles. Juvenile offenders make up 36% of sex offenders who victimize minors.Seven out of eight of these offenders are at least 12 years old93% are male. Steps Parents Can Take to Stop Child Sex Abuse Keeping open lines of communication with kids is crucial in order to prevent or curtail child sexual abuse. Children must understand that sexual abuse is never the victims fault. First, children should be taught what behavior is appropriate affectionââ¬âand what is not. Next, children must be made to understand that if someoneââ¬âeven someone they know, including a family memberââ¬âis behaving toward them in an inappropriate manner, they should tell their parents immediately. The AACAP says that while children should be taught to respect adults, that does not mean adhering to blind obedience to adults and to authority. For example, telling children to always do everything the teacher or babysitter tells you to do is not good advice. Children should be taught to trust their instincts. If someone tries to touch your body and do things that make you feel funny, say NO to that person and tell me right away. Work Ethics Free Essays
According to Websterââ¬â¢s Dictionary ââ¬Å"work ethics is a belief in work as a moral good.â⬠Which is basically saying you do your work because you want to, not because you have to, and maybe get noticed for it? Some people work because they have to but if you have work ethic for what you work for itââ¬â¢s because you are doing it because you like and thinks it is a good job. If you do job just because then it is not considered a good work ethic, it is considered a work ethic but you only do the job because you have to do it. We will write a custom essay sample on Work Ethics or any similar topic only for you Order Now Those with a good work ethic often also possess generally strong character. This means they are self-disciplined, pushing themselves to complete work tasks instead of requiring others to intervene. They are also often very honest and trustworthy, as they view these traits as befitting the high-quality employees they seek to become, to demonstrate their strong character, these workers embody these positive traits daily, likely distinguishing themselves from the rest.I have a work ethic. My work ethic is working in the library at my high school. I work in the library because I have to. I donââ¬â¢t like to work in the library but I do because it is a good work ethic. I work here because they need help. Many students leave school ill-prepared for the workplace. Poor academic skills and work habits limit their understanding of how they might fit into the adult world. Work-based learning addresses this problem by extending the walls of the classroom to include the whole community, giving students real world experiences and opportunities to apply academic skills in the workplace. Work-based learning is an integral part of school to careers transition, combining school-based learning and work-based learning into an integrated experience for all students. Through work-based learning, ââ¬Å"Employers reinforce academic lessons, schools emphasize career applications, students gain experience in the adult world of work and connections to a range of post-secondary options, including college, technical training and skilled entry level work.â⬠The National Center for Career and Technical Education (NCCTE) defines career development as ââ¬Å"the total constellation of psychological, sociological, education, physical, economic, and chance factors that combine to influence the nature and significance of work in the total lifespan of any given individual.â⬠Work-based learning is defined as a coherent sequence of job training and work experience that involves actual work experience and connects classroom learning to work activities. One of the key elements that lead to the success of a school to careers system is work-based learning. Students must have access to a range of developmentally appropriate work-based learning experiences. Schools and employers need flexibility to develop a school to careers transition that builds on local strengths and is tailored to local needs and circumstances. The work-based component may include a variety of activities including job shadowing, school based enterprises, entrepreneurial programs, dual enrollment, mentorships, career pathways, and service learning to name a few. Using a range of in-school and out-of-school strategies ââ¬â paid or unpaid work experiences during the school day or after school ââ¬â with programs customized to fit the needs of young people, school, businesses, and the local community, the main focus of any of these work-based learning experiences is that they must offer academic study, professional/technical skills, and work related experiences. Although most people have wanted to concentrate their efforts related to work-based learning on students in the upper years of high school, they should realize that programs that do not start until the 11th grade miss the chance to make a significant impact on many students. Work-based experiences need to take a progressive sequential approach that includes preparation (feeder) experiences starting as early as elementary or middle school. It is crucial to include younger students before they become discouraged and disengaged or drop out of school altogether. ââ¬Å"Feederâ⬠experiences expose young people to a range of career opportunities through such options as summer internships, job shadowing, and career exploration workshops, all of which are geared to the connection between school and work and the integration of academic and occupational training. Ideally the work-based learning component is delivered through a planned program of job training and other employment experiences related to a chosen career. How to cite Work Ethics, Papers

Scale Distributed Computing and Applications â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Scale Distributed Computing and Applications. Answer: Introduction: When a system is proposed that requires strong authentication and authorization then multi-tier client server architecture is most preferred and effective. In this model handling of application is done at the client and functions data management is done at the server. Management of data is performed right-on and thus, interaction handling between application processing and the clients is not necessary. In multi-tier architecture application modules are separated and subdivided into several tiers depending on their functionalities. Every tier basically executes on different systems. This offers distribution and, therefore, doing away with the disadvantage of single point failure. As compared to single or two-tier, security of applications and data is higher in multi-tier architecture (Helmer, Poulovassilis, Xhafa, 2011). Single point of failures is eliminated in the application. Utilization of load balancer in the distribution of traffic across several web servers aids in removal of single point failure. Provides high level security: deployment of many tiers assists in enhancing data and application security. Attackers are limited by the absence of point of failures, therefore, their ability to take control over data and applications have been narrowed. The possibility of clients interacting with unauthorized data has been greatly reduced as clients dont to access the database directly. Diverse networks have distinctive security needs which limits how an end user interacts with the server. For instance, if an end user is connected to the internet, their communication with the servers is regulated by a firewall. The existence of a firewall that is not under the manipulation of a client restricts the selection of the protocols to use. several firewalls are set up to enable HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) to go through them and not IIOP (internet inter-orb protocol). (Singh, 2011). Authentication is also influenced by security requirements. Authentication of users if a client and server are within similar security domain like an intranet of company as compared where they are on different domains like over the internet which requires more sophisticated scheme for logging in (Vogel, Arnold, Chughtai, Kehrer, 2011). According to Qian (2010),functionality of the multi-tier Architecture is considered unique as it is subdivided into 3 logical modules including; application, business management and data services. These logical modules can be mapped into three or several physical nodules. Application services- the general functionality of this module is more of the user interface and presentation needs and is run on the client side, that is, it is run on the clients desktop/ browser which support widowing operating platform. modifications in functionality is determined by the simplicity of use or creative considerations, basically human factors. Data services are deployed using the technologies of database servers, which is likely to be run on high bandwidth and immense performance stations that handle a lot of clients interconnected over a network. Data services are likely to be modified when relationship among stored data and representation changes. Business services mirror the encrypted information about business processes. They handle and incorporate data received from the data services and make it available to application services. Business services are basically utilized by several clients and so they are likely to be situated on unique servers despite the fact that they may be located on similar node as data services. According to Cristea, (2010), partitioning functionality offers a comparatively stable design for scalability. Reference List HELMER, S., POULOVASSILIS, A., XHAFA, F. Supernatural In Shakespeares Plays Essays - Fiction,
Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays In the time of William Shakespeare there was a strong belief in the existence of the supernatural. Thus, the supernatural is a recurring aspect in many of Mr. Shakespeare?s plays. In two such plays, Hamlet and Macbeth, the supernatural is an integral part of the structure of the plot. It provides a catalyst for action, an insight into character, and augments the impact of many key scenes. The supernatural appears to the audience in many varied forms. In Hamlet there appears perhaps the most notable of the supernatural forms, the ghost. However, in Macbeth, not only does a ghost appear but a floating dagger, witches, and prophetic apparitions make appearances. The role of the supernatural is very important in Hamlet and Macbeth. A ghost, appearing in the form of Hamlet?s father, makes several appearances in the play. It first appears to the watchmen, Marcellus and Bernardo, along with Horatio near the guardsmens' post. The ghost says nothing to them and is perceived with fear and apprehension, ?It harrows me with fear and wonder?. It is not until the appearance of Hamlet that the ghost speaks, and only then after Horatio has expressed his fears about Hamlet following it, ?What if it tempt you toward the flood, my lord, or to the dreadful summit of the cliff?. The conversation between the ghost and Hamlet serves as a catalyst for Hamlet?s later actions and provides insight into Hamlet?s character. The information the ghost reveals incites Hamlet into action against a situation he was already uncomfortable with, and now even more so. Hamlet is not quick to believe the ghost, ?The spirit that I have seen may be a devil... and perhaps out of my weakness and my melancholy..abuses me to damn me?, and thus an aspect of Hamlet?s character is revealed. Hamlet, having no suspicion of the ghost after the production by the players, encounters the ghost next in his mother?s room. In this scene the ghost makes an appearance to ?whet? Hamlet?s ?almost blunted purpose?. Hamlet is now convinced of the ghost and he no longer harbors any suspicion. He now listens to it, ?Speak to her, Hamlet?. In Hamlet, the supernatural is the guiding force behind Hamlet. The ghost ask Hamlet to seek revenge for the King?s death and Hamlet is thus propelled to set into action a series of events that ends in Hamlet?s death. The supernatural occurs four times during the course of Macbeth. It occurs in all the appearances of the witches, in the appearance of Banquo?s ghost, in the apparitions with their prophesies, and in the ?air-drawn? dagger that guides Macbeth towards his victim. Of the supernatural phenomenon evident in Macbeth the witches are perhaps the most important. The witches represent Macbeth?s evil ambitions. They are the catalyst which unleash Macbeth?s evil aspirations. Macbeth believes the witches and wishes to know more about the future so after the banquet he seeks them out at their cave. He wants to know the answers to his questions regardless of whether the consequence be violent and destructive to nature. The witches promise to answer and at Macbeth?s choice they add further unnatural ingredients to the cauldron and call up their masters. This is where the prophetic apparitions appear. The first apparition is Macbeth?s own head (later to be cut off by Macduff) confirming his fears of Macduff. The second apparition tells Macbeth that he can not be harmed by no one born of woman. This knowledge gives Macbeth a false sense of security because he believes that he cannot be harmed, yet Macduff was not of woman born, his mother was dead and a corpse when Macduff was born. This leads to Macbeth?s downfall. A child with a crown on his head, the third apparition, represents Malcolm, Duncan?s son. This apparition also gives Macbeth a false sense of security because of the Birnam Wood prophesy. The appearance of Banquo?s ghost provides insight into Macbeth?s character. It shows the level that Macbeth?s mind has recessed to. When he sees the ghost he reacts with horror and upsets the guests. Macbeth wonders why murder had taken place many times in the past before it was prevented by law -?statute

Health care marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Health care marketing - Essay Example As the pioneers who ââ¬Å"bridged the gap between the initial R&D and the market-ready innovation by defining a baby-care nicheâ⬠(Blatchford, 2010), Johnson & Johnson successfully used the branding strategy to turn the undifferentiated product ââ¬ËMineral Oilââ¬â¢ ( used primarily for health and medical uses) into one of their most successful consumer products. The Johnsonââ¬â¢s Baby product range was later extended to include more related products like the ââ¬ËNo more tears shampooââ¬â¢. The brand has become well-known for its comfort, care and safety message which has been communicated very effectively through the above-the-line advertising and their signature pink packaging. The marketing strategies of the Brand have been so successful because of the effective use of basic principles of marketing especially with regards to identifying the target market and developing suitable communications. Target Marketà The target market can be formally defined as "A se t of buyers sharing common needs or characteristics that the company decides to serve" (Kotler et al, 2010). Defining the target market is the foundation step towards developing the value in a product or service, that will be communicated according to the consumers needs. The development of distribution, advertising, and production plans all depend on the target market as selected by an organization. ... The communication and value proposition offered is same for all segments. Differentiated: targeting several segments and offering them varied value propositions for a given product, in accordance with their specific needs Niche: Focusing on just one segment, provides them with specialized products with unique value proposition. (Kotler et al, 2010). An organization with a highly innovative product may want to go with niche marketing as they can concentrate their resources on developing a highly involved market for their product. This strategy may also be preferred for companies that are starting out small and do not have the financial and human resources required for a larger marketing plan targeting several different groups of consumers. Organizations have to be clear about their own strengths (and weaknesses), their long and short term goals and the external environment before deciding to utilize a particular targeting strategy. Consumer insight research is an important component o f this process, as it highlights what exactly are the consumer needs and their perceived reception to any new product and Johnson & Johnson. The market segments to be selected for targeting purposes are divided into groups with similar demographic and psychographic traits. The marketers group the consumers through evaluation of questions such as; will they feel the need for a certain product? If so what value will the ascribe to it? Can they afford it? Are they doers or achievers? Is brand status important to them? How important is family to them? And so on and so forth. Questions such as these are designed to provide consumer insight and feelings, which can help a company to design and communicate better solutions for them.

Team Building Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Team Building - Essay Example But a basic disadvantage in this type of functioning is that the employee doesn't feel the belonging to the organization and therefore may not go for value addition and creativity to the task. An individual is least bothered about the final product, once he/ she has done his/ her share of task. A team on the other hand helps in networking of the individuals, with exchange of ideas and suggestions. This not only helps in regular updation of the knowledge level of the team members but also enriches the final product and service. When the customer feels the advantage of value addition, he'll naturally be attracted towards the product/ service. The figure below depicts the difference between these two types of systems. Teams in general are committed for common goals as they are accountable for them. Teams can pool there resources, synergize their acts and the team members can complement and supplement each other's efforts to come out with the final product. Contribution from the concerned team members helps in widening the thoughts, assigning responsibilities, helps in implementing and constantly monitoring the results and feedback helps in devising a still better strategy. Structure and composition of a team forms the basis of its working. ... But the core characteristic is the commitment to a common goal. The team structure determines how to maximize the common efforts. If any one members of the team works in a manner adversely affecting the final outcome, then it acts as a de-motivating factor for other members in the team, which in turn affects the quality of the final product. Therefore an efficient team structure also takes care of such eventualities. A well designed team structures helps in polishing the abilities of the individual team members. A person's strengths may not always be visible; it might be overshadowed by something that he has done in the past. Sometimes it requires a personal trigger from the team leader. When the team members find that the team is behind them and the leader has enough confidence in them they come out of their shell with readiness to take initiatives. The trigger has to be the right one, because squeezing the wrong one might lead to further detachment. Strategies must be in place to s upport such initiates and experiments. Answer-2 Part-I: Contribution of leadership towards strategy implementation Howard Good (2006), the former president of Highland Central School Board in Highland, N.Y., says, "Being board president brings power and prestige, but you must inspire and help others to be successful". A team leader therefore plays the central role in making or breaking the team. It is the team leader who can synergize the efforts or just wither away the advantage, with his actions. A team leader is supposed to delegate the powers and responsibilities amongst his/ her team mates, inspire the team members by being an example and motivate his team with appropriate motivating factors. Compromise Of 1877 Frederick Douglass History Essay
Compromise Of 1877 Frederick Douglass History Essay Frederick Douglass was one of the most well-known fiery orators and his famous speeches, including The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, were published in many different abolitionist newspapers. On July 5, 1852, Douglass was invited to present a speech about the importance of the Fourth of July for Americas black people. In his speech, Douglass condemned the attitude of the American population toward slavery. In fact, Douglass was very radicalized by the passage of the Fugitive Slave Law in 1850. This law allowed the search and arrest of escaped slaves in areas where slavery had been abolished. In addition, the law obliges the population of all states to actively participate in the capture of fugitive slaves, and the severe punishment for the slaves, those who harbor them, and those who have not contributed to the capture of a slave. That is why, Douglass became radicalized by the passage of the Fugitive Slave Law in 1850 and stated that these events were very cruel in American history. Reconstruction was a period in the U.S. history after the Civil War, from 1865 to 1877 years. In the U.S. history, reconstruction involve, firstly, a historical period following the Civil War between the North and the South, and, secondly, the transformation of the South in the period from about 1865-1866 to 1877 during the restructuring of the government and society in the former Confederacy. Three adopted amendments to the Constitution have affected the whole country. In various southern states, reconstruction began and ended at different times, in the end, the completion of this process is generally considered to be a compromise of 1877. Reconstruction policy was implemented after the fact when the slaveholding South found itself completely at the mercy of the Federal Army. President Abraham Lincoln during the war created the Reconstruction government in several Southern states Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana, and gave the land to former slaves in South Carolina. After Lincolns assassination, President Andrew Johnson tried to follow the policies of his predecessor and appointed new governors in the summer of 1865. Soon, he said that the objectives of the war the national unity and the elimination of slavery have been achieved and, therefore, the reconstruction was complete. All in all, it is possible to conclude that despite a lot of abuse and the fact that Reconstruction did not go swimmingly, all the goals were achieved in a proper way and it completed the separation between the North and South. Thus, Reconstruction can be considered to be a success. The movie Glory is based a true story that tells about the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer, which took place during the Civil War. The 54th Regiment was the first unit of the U.S. Army composed entirely of blacks (except for officers). The regiment was formed in 1862 and headed by young Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, who believed that former slaves could also be good soldiers. Colonel Shaw will have to deal with racial prejudice of his enemies and friends, the officers, who began to despise him for his choice. The major differences existed among the black soldiers of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry were the fact that the regiment included not only the free blacks, but also the escaped ones who together struggled for their freedom rights. Additionally, they both were from different regions of origin and had different educational backgrounds. However, despite discrimination during the Civil War, blacks could prove that they were good soldiers willing to struggle to the death for their rights. The Emancipation of Proclamation was a document that consisted of two orders of Abraham Lincoln issued during the Civil War. The first decree issued on September 22, 1862, declared free all slaves in any state of the CSA. The second decree issued on January 1, 1863, named the 10 individual states to be covered by the abolition of slavery. At the beginning, the Emancipation of Proclamation was criticized because it emancipated slaves only in the areas where the United States of America had no power. However, the Proclamation brought freedom to thousands of slaves in the day when it entered into force, and in nine of the ten states in which it was applied (Texas was the only exception). In such a case, it is possible to say that the Emancipation of Proclamation was an act of justice, which brought freedom to black slaves and strived to abolish slavery. From the beginning of the Civil War, blacks in the North have made persistent attempts to win the right to serve in the federal army and to defend their freedom. F. Douglas during the Civil War tirelessly explained that the key political issue is the destruction of slavery and insisted on the admission of blacks in the Union Army. However, until the middle of 1862 the government refused them in this. Only under the influence of military setbacks and the growing pressure from the masses, it was decided to call blacks in the Union Army. Before the Civil War, blacks were recruited into the navy, but only in non-combatant positions without the right to bear arms. Thus, nearly two years of war blacks were not allowed to join the army, and only the number of serious injuries has forced Republicans to accept blacks into the Army. Compulsory recruitment of blacks into the army was resolved only by the law of 24 February 1864, that is, in the final year of the war. Blacks fought with unparalleled courage and played a huge role in the victory of the North. Hence, it is possible to draw a conclusion that blacks during the civil war showed many examples of heroism and resourcefulness and had a great impact on the outcome of the Civil War.

Macbeths Demise :: essays research papers
Macbeth Essay à à à à à The tragedy Macbeth by William Shakespeare is based on a thane in whom is corrupted by greed and a negative ambition. The character Macbeth contradicts his moral responsibility in this play a great deal; many moral questions are brought forth to Macbeth. He questions himself and whether or not he should follow through with the evil deeds that he does. Macbeths ambition causes him to compromise his honour, he doesnââ¬â¢t take into consideration that he is being trusted and that every action that he takes will have a reaction. Macbeth attains his position as king unjustly. As is evident by the conclusion, justice prevails as usual and Macbeths demise is a result of his evil deeds. Macbeth negates his moral responsibility as a person as well as a king. He doesnââ¬â¢t take into consideration that he will pay for all the evil deeds that he executes. Killing Duncan is the worst crime that is possible to commit since the kings were the closest in hierarchy next to god. It is evident that Macbeth is aware that this is an evil sin when he states, ââ¬Å" I dare do all that may be come a man, who dares do more is none.â⬠(Act I Scene VII, Line 46-47) The previous statement shows that Macbeth believes that killing Duncan will make him nothing more than a beast. Nevertheless he goes against his morals and kills King Duncan. Sin is a prevalent theme in this play, Macbeth shows that he knows he has lived a sinful life, ââ¬Å"Seyton I am sick at hearth, when I behold Seyton I have liveââ¬â¢d long enough.â⬠(Act V Scene III, Lines 20-22) Ambition takes over Macbeth when he decides to hire assassinators to kill Macduffs wife and children, ââ¬Å"The castle o f Macduff I will surprise; seize upon Fife; give to the edge of the sword in this line.â⬠Lanoue 2 (Act IV Scene I Lines 150-153) Macbeth shows the insignificance of his morals and responsibilities by his actions, he shows that becoming king is of much more importance. à à à à à The weird sisters (witches) have a great impact on Macbeths state of mind when he decides to follow through with many of his actions. The witches are responsible for putting the idea of Macbeth becoming king in his head. Faith in the witches compromises his honour since they are believed to be evil however Macbeth

Reflections on Transgender Essay
Before going to the transgender workshop, I have already had a mindset of gender stereotype and I have never thought of accepting the sexual minorities like trans and homosexual people. I was raised in a traditional and conservative family that my parents showed me that a man should be the head of the family because he is the breadwinner so all family members have to rely on him. On the other hand, a woman should always listen to her husband and stay at home to serve her husband and take care of the children. Family is the primary socializing agent that I learn how a family functions by observational learning. Moreover, I was taught in school that how girls and boys should behave without questioning the reason why I should behave like that. The formal, informal and hidden curriculum in school shaped my thought about gender. For instance, boys should be active and girls should be quiet in class. Socialized by family and school for a long time, I internalized the gender stereotype made by the culture of society so I admitted that I had a closed-mind before. I now understand why students are inculcated with this kind of gender stereotype. It is because capitalists want to maintain their power and heterosexual domination in a patriarchy society so they labeled the minority as abnormal. According to the conflict theory of Karl Marx, the education systems produce the ideology of gender stereotype so as to maintain and legitimate the base created by capitalists who control the means of production. I have learned to think in a critical manner because many of our mindsets are shaped by society. We have to question whether they are rational before accepting those thoughts. After attending the transgender workshop, I had a brief understanding about what transgender is. Transgender means that people identify themselves as another sex different from their biological sex. Their gender identity and gender expression are different from their biological sex and gender role constructed by society. For example, some of them are male at birth but they id entify themselves as female. We called them MtF (male to female) and another type is called FtM (female to male). Mainly, trans people are divided into two groups, the Crossdresser, who like to dress up as a different sex and the Transexual, who have undergone sex reassignment surgery. From the sharing of two trans people, Fei (a MtF) and Siu Keung(aà FtM), I know that being a trans person is tough because he or she has to face a lot of difficulty in daily life such as being questioned by family and friends as well as being discriminated against in society that make them have low self-esteem. Like Fei, he discovered that he liked a boy when he was in Form 3 or 4 and then his classmates humiliated him so he hated himself very much at that time and he even tried to commit suicide. I can see that peer is another socializing agent that affects our mindset of who we are and what we are supposed to behave. If we violate the expected behavior of society, we will be regarded as freak and abnormal. In order not to be isolated or labeled as abnormal, we follow the main stream and hide the side that what we actually are. Also, I can see that only the hegemonic masculinity is being accepted among people through Feiââ¬â¢s experience. He was once invited to a themed party a nd he wore a dress to go to the party. However, his friends asked him not to wear dress to come again. Feminine masculinity is not acceptable. Everything has its diversity but people tend to divide things into binary opposition. The one who owns power decides which character is the ââ¬Å"rightâ⬠and normal one and the other is regarded as ââ¬Å"wrongâ⬠and abnormal. It is obviously a power struggle. Trans gender people are leading a difficult life. In Hong Kong, there are approximately 200-300 trans people (Leung, 2012). Many of them are like Fei that they have to behave ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠in front of other people and they could only be the true self when they are alone. Trans people will also consider their behaviors as abnormal or even consider themselves as a psychopathy. As many of them are reluctant to find help, they are in lack of people to share their feelings that make them feel lonely and helpless. Some of them many even hurt their reproductive organs or commit suicide. Apart from the lacking in mental support, the institution in Hong Kong doesnââ¬â¢t provid e enough support for trans people. Until now, there is no law to protect trans people, as they are not included in the Sex Discrimination Ordinance. Only those who are judged to have Gender Identity Disorder can be protected under Disability Discrimination Ordinance. (Leung, 2012) Yet, in the mean time, trans people are labeled as disable as well as having mental disorder, which is another kind of discrimination. Also, health care system in Hong Kong is not comprehensive enough for trans people. At present, there are only two hospitals, which are Prince of Wales Hospital and the sex clinic in Castleà Peak Hospital, that provide transgender medical diagnostic services so trans people have to wait about seven weeks to see the doctor (Medical services provided for Gender Identity Disorders patients, 2013). Knowing what tough situation that the trans people are facing, I feel sympathy for them and I will now show my respect to trans people. I used to think that the Crossdresser was abnormal and disgusting. Now, I question why women can dress like men but men cannot dress like women. It is unfair to men that they will be criticized and discriminated against if they dress like women. Also, the media uses language to derogate the Crossdresser such as calling them ladyboy ââ¬Å"ä º ºÃ¥ ¦â"ââ¬Å". Like Fei, he likes wearing dress since he was small but he has tried to throw away all his dresses as his mother and girlfriends did not accept that. It is hard for him not to be the one he wanted to be and he had spent years being the one he hated. I will consider crossdressing as a hobby of trans people because they just spend time on something they like to do. Also, we should not criticize their act because it does not do any harm on other people. In addition to the Crossdresser, transsexual people have to master up their courage to undergo sex reassignment surgery as it is not as easy as we think. In fact, it is a long process. They have to first get a referral letter from doctors, social workers or psychologists and they must pass the two-year mental and psychological evaluation process including living as another sex for one year. Next, they can be defined as gender identity disorder. After that, they are referred to public hospital to undergo surgery. In fact it is dangerous for them to undergo sex reassignment surgery, especially the FtM people. There is a high risk of injury in penile reconstructive surgery and the success rate is low. Also, they have to take hormones. According to some medical studies, there will be some long-term side effects of taking female hormones. For example, the risk of having breast cancer will be higher and the load of the liver will be increased (Transgender handbook, 2012). I appreciate their determination that they would rather sacrifice their health in order to be their true selves. As Goffman said, gender is something that an individual actively do, we can choose to be a man or a woman, as we like. In this post-modern age, queer theory suggested that gender is fluid. A picture of the genderbread person shows that there are more than eighty combinations that an individual can be. For example, she can be a female but identifying herself as a manà and she can express herself as androgynous and bei ng a bisexual. I know that when we do not understand an issue clearly, we have no right to criticize it. After knowing what transgender is, I choose to respect. We should be open-minded to accept the existence of diversity of gender in society or at least we should respect so that we all can live in a society with harmony. I have a friend who is a bisexual. I was once reluctant to befriend him. But now, I always show him my support and I am willing to listen to his difficulties in daily life to help him release stress. Also, I realized that I do not need to do something to fulfill what society expects me to do as a girl. For example, I do not need to be tender; I do not need to have long legs, big breasts or a slim body to impress men. I just have to be myself, which is unique. Work cited 1.Leung , J.(2012). Social Promotion or Retention The Only choices for...
Social Promotion or Retention: The Only choices for failing students? How to help students who fail, or students who do not achieve up to a certain academic standard, is an issue that probably goes back to the beginning of levels of school for students to progress through. In the U.S. it goes back to the 1840ââ¬â¢s where age-graded schools began. In those times children who did not meet a certain standard were retained, or they repeated that grade. Rates of grade retention are difficult to trace in the past as well as currently. In some of these illustrative examples, a state could reduce retention by half in thirty years. However, different states had different retention rates. In 1909 one Massachusetts school district had a 7.5% retentionâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦So much so that if a person is held back twice it is almost certain they will drop out. A University of Georgia study helps prove this point. It involved over 11,000 students and concluded that repeating a year has a negative effect on a studentââ¬â¢s performance. It also showed t hat the students tend to fall farther behind during the second year which could explain why they rarely graduate. ââ¬Å"Retained children are 20 to 30 percent more likely to drop out of school when compared to low achieves who are allowed to move to the next grade.â⬠(McBrien) states Lynn McBrien a former editor-in-chief of Education Today and a vice-president of corporate development for the National Reading Styles Institute. There are other studies that state the similar things. Due to these and possible more reasons the idea of social promotion was implemented in some areas. Social promotion is the passing of students who fail to meet the criteria for passing. Itââ¬â¢s called ââ¬Å"socialâ⬠because it is often used with the studentââ¬â¢s social and psychological well being in mind not achievement. Unfortunately, this solution caused just as many problems as retention. Application of RFID technology-Free-Samples-Myassignmentshelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Application of RFID technology in Supply Chain Management. Answer: Introduction Supply chain management refers to the methods involved in the management of goods and services, its flow from the manufacturing unit to the target customers, which includes the making of the goods, its distribution as well as transportation. Supply chain management combines all the above steps with the marketing decisions, demands of the customers in association with the organizations strategies and goals. The implementation or application of RFID technology can however, benefit the supply management chain (Stadtler 2015). The report highlights the application of RFID technology in the supply chain management. RFID technology is referred to the Radio Frequency Identification, which uses the electromagnetic fields to track and identify tags attached to the items. It helps in minimizing shrinkage of any product or item and reducing costs. The implementation of RFID has become a very important factor in the supply chain management. It has not only replaced barcodes but also ensured the availability of right items at the right place, without any discrepancies and errors (Zhu, Mukhopadhyay and Kurata 2012). The report highlights the use of RFID technology for the benefit of supply chain management, how the technology works, the strengths and challenges of the technology. RFID helps in making the supply chain precise and efficient; it improves the reliability of the entire system. It also improves significantly the administrations planning processes. Methods This chapter discusses about the research methods which are available for the study and their analysis to address the problems, which is directed towards the ability of RFID in the management of supply chain. Likewise, it presents various strategies and procedures in identifying the issues related to the topic. This chapter throws light on the methods of research used to establish the report, the research design, data collection, description of the study, the processes used to analyze the references and analysis of the gathered data. Multiple methods are employed for this study, to examine the current status of the application of RFID technology in the supply chain management which includes descriptive research method, ensuring the study is cheap and quick. Moreover, qualitative analysis helped in understanding the reasons, motivations and opinions, while providing an insight to the problem with rich data. It also helped in developing ideas and opinions for potential quantitative analysis of the study (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The research methodology required gathering relevant data from specified documents and compiling databases. Secondary data is collected through internet, review of existing literature, journals and research thesis. The academic articles are referred and studied, for the detailed analysis of the topic and the interpretation of the data which are being collected from the articles. The report contains Harvard style of referencing. Results The results are presented here through the findings of the study and its detailed analysis. Findings The report contains the findings from detailed research of the academic articles and journals. The usage of RFID benefits the supply chain management. Fast moving consumer goods or FMCG industry, is taken as an example to explain the RFID process. However, the RFID technology application can vary from industry to industry. The FMCG market is presently one of the fastest moving markets across the world. In this industry, it is necessary to count the products several times which includes the stages of manufacturing, production, washing of the products and its packing. Previously, all these operations were being performed manually. After the introduction of RFID technology, the tagging and counting of products are done in seconds (Beck and Kenning 2015). RFID scanner helps in scanning the tags automatically without any error. Moreover, it helps in scanning multiple tags simultaneously. It reduces the work load of the labors and does the work more accurately and swiftly. It helps in reducing the costs of the manufacturers as the maximum work is machine-based (Zhu, Mukhopadhyay and Kurata 2012). Likewise, manufacturers can also gain knowledge and information through this technology. RFID tags help in storing information of the products which are far more advantageous than barcode labels. The information which is stored helps in enhancing the production processes. Efficient planning of production helps in the smooth movement of products and its raw materials in a less span of time (Chen, Cheng and Huang 2013). In addition to this, manufacturers are benefitted with increased knowledge regarding the maintenance of the machines and equipments and how to repair those. This also gives the manufacturers a visible data of which machine needs to get repaired and when it needs proper maintenance, therefore, helping them to plan for the maintenance schedules. Being a major part of the production planning, it helps in preventing costly production procedures (Stadtler 2015). Analysis Critical analysis of the study helped in getting detailed information regarding the topic. RFID helps in manufacturing processes by reducing the manual work, which in turn reduces the costs. It improves visibility and planning (Attaran 2012). It also benefits in managing the warehouse. Once the production is complete, the producers of fast moving consumer goods or FMCG pack the items in the cartons and then deliver those cartons to the buying companys warehouse. The cargo which is used to transfer the products to its destination goes to the warehouse first. It is very difficult to keep a track of the huge number of boxes. It takes huge amount of time and also it is a labor consuming procedure (Costa et al. 2013). RFID technology can be applied in such situation to ease the procedure as it helps in managing the information and keeping a track of the number of cartons. Each and every unit is installed with RFID tags which help in the storage of information in the computer of the warehouse. In the entrance of every warehouse, read and write devices are installed, which helps in registering the data when a cargo moves in or out (Attaran 2012). It enables the management center in managing the huge amounts of items that goes inside and outside the storage system. Further, it helps in recognizing the cargo and in its replacement when it stops working. The read and write device plays a major role in the strategic planning of the product locations inside the warehouse (Fosso Wamba 2012). RFID helps in tracking of the products and its handling, which is done in a short span of time and with accuracy. Inside the warehouse, all the products can be easily located as its movements are being tracked by RFID, which automatically gets stored in the warehouses system. On one hand, stocks are accurately tracked, and on the other, information regarding the losses is recorded by the technology. Therefore, the RFID technology offers detailed information regarding the visibility of the products, location and relocation of the products, recording of losses and planning the locations of the products strategically (Fan et al. 2015). RFID technology helps in managing and tracking all the shipping containers. The most convenient way of transporting huge numbers of cargo is by using shipping containers. It ensures secured and safe transportation at a very low cost, a standard quality of packaging and high density of transportation. Those companies using the RFID technology for managing and tracking the shipping containers are able to manage each and every link of the containers (Monczka et al. 2015). Active tags of RFID help in doing so even in the yards and the docks. Moreover, RFID technology which is of high frequency helps in the speeding up of identification as well as identification of long distance objects. It improves efficiency and increases accuracy as well as offers the cargo movement visibility (Garrido Azevedo and Carvalho 2012). It also benefits the distribution processes by implementation of the technology. It accelerates the delivery managements speed to a great extent, while improving efficiency and increasing accuracy in selecting and distributing processes. It reduces distribution costs and keeps a track of the items and products, by registering it in the distribution centers computer system. This information helps in putting the cartons properly in right places, sorting them quickly and also efficiently, dispatching of the cartons to its retailers in less span of time with accuracy (Monczka et al. 2015). It also enables in inventory controls accuracy. When the items reach their destination or store, at the entrance they get scanned as well as registered automatically. Therefore, it helps in accelerating the delivery speed, while improving efficiency, increasing accuracy and at the same time reducing distribution costs (Fan Et Al. 2015). challenges RFID is beneficial for many companies and organizations. It is the perfect solution for those. However, it has some challengers. For some organizations, RFID fails to meet their basic needs and requirements. The challenges of the technology are discussed here in this chapter. Firstly, it can be expensive. Be it software or hardware, RFID requires the costliest equipment, that requires proper maintenance. Lack of maintenance can hamper the business strategies. Secondly, RFID has a troublesome relationship with liquids and metals. It faces difficulties in working among metals and liquids, as both the elements make the reading harder. Metals dont let the radio waves read, as the waves get bounced all over. Liquids can absorb the signals of RFID when sent to the tag (Attaran 2012). Thirdly, at times the technology can be tough to grasp. Understanding different frequencies and tags can be a problem. Moreover, the way of using RFID equipment can be a major challenge for the user. Managers must be well equipped with the technology so that they are able to train the employees as well, with the pros and cons of the technology. Fourthly, while dealing with this technology, employees come across with the reader and the tag collisions. In reader collision, an employe e may face interference from a different reader, while reading an item. Tag collision creates interference while reading a number of tags on a single go. It usually happens when more tags reflects to a single signal, which in turn confuses the tag reader (Garrido Azevedo and Carvalho 2012). It is required to do a detailed research of RFID technology before its application in the supply chain management. Managers must be well equipped with the handling of the technology so that they can train their employees with the utilization of the technology. It is important to understand whether its application is beneficial for the organization or not (Fosso Wamba 2012). Swot Analysis Strengths RFID technology benefits many companies by reducing the cost and time, minimizing the product shrinkage probability, better control of the products and increasing safety and security. It also helps in tracking the products and maintaining them when needed. It ensures smooth flow of the products. It benefits in the warehouse management by locating and relocating the products, record the products and helps in planning the products location strategically. It takes care of the distribution process by improving efficiency and increasing Accuracy (Tsai, Lai And Hsu 2013). Weakness With strengths of RFID, come its weaknesses. Firstly, it can be expensive. It requires proper maintenance as lack of maintenance can hamper the business strategies. Secondly, RFID has a troublesome relationship with liquids and metals. It faces difficulties in reading metals and liquids. Thirdly, at times the technology can be tough to grasp. Fourthly, while dealing with this technology, employees come across with the reader and the tag collisions (Sarma and Subirama 2013). Opportunities Once a company adopts this technology, other companies will also adopt in order to keep pace with the technological advances. This will gradually spread among all the companies, leading a revolution of technology and better economy. Theft detection will be more efficient. Problems in distribution of the products will be grasped easily. Organizations will become more efficient and will be able to cater the target customers in a better way (Ziegeldorf, Morchon and Wehrle 2014). Threats Small scale business wont be able to afford the technology, same goes for suppliers from the poor countries. Hence, it would result in the loss of RFID technologys support. Some customers believe that their personal information would be leaked and privacy would be violated. Most of the work will be machine based, hence many labor would lose their jobs. Many employees would also lose their jobs because of better technology (Beitelspacher et al. 2012). Discussion Supply chain management ensures a smooth flow of products and services as well as the storage and movement of the raw materials. Presently, several companies are using RFID technology for the smooth management of supply chain, in the hope of reducing costs and product shrinkage. Some companies use RFID for few aspects, whereas some use the technology from the beginning o end (Tsai, Lai and Hsu 2013). Few companies, which have successfully been implementing the RFID technology in their supply chain management, are listed here. Wells Fargo has been using the RFID technology in a brilliant way for managing their supply chain movement. It uses the RFID tags to label all their equipments which help in tracking the movement easily, keeping it safe and secured. With the help of this technology, the security guards are able to tell easily whether the products movement is right or wrong, whether it is in the hands of right owners or not (Townsend et al. 2013). Previously, this work was done manually by the guards. They used to check each and every products serial number by matching it with a list, which had the products details. Therefore, RFID technology benefitted the company, by reducing the labor cost and time. It also ensured the safety and security of the products (Sarma and Subirama 2013). Willard Batteries uses RFID technology to track their products and its movement. It also ensures that the products are in good condition, proving maintenance when needed. The high frequency of the tags also allowed delivery of necessary information, in emergency. It proved to be beneficial and advantageous for the company, by tracking and maintaining products and services, also reducing the cost and time (Townsend et al. 2013). RFID technology has proved to be beneficial for the companies. However, there are few difficulties with the technology which are discussed above. The technology must be developed further for more convenient services. Risk factors must be lessened, with more security regarding customers personal information. Issues with liquids and metals should be reduced and there must be no difficulties reading those items. Employees needs to be trained more in order to adapt the technological changes (Zhu, Mukhopadhyay and Kurata 2012). Limitations Of The Report Analysis was purely based on the items available on the internet, journals and theses. There was limited time for data collection for the study. Interviews and survey could have established the report more. The study was confined to the application of RFID technology in Supply Chain Management only and not to its other usage Conclusion To conclude, RFID application helps in the smooth flow of products and goods. It also plays a very important role in distribution and tracking processes. Many companies are implementing the RFID technology, which has proved beneficial for them. It is advantageous for the supply chain management. Moreover, it helps in building a relationship between the customer and the organization by fulfilling their demands. It accomplishes great visibility as well as efficiency. However, it is important to do a detailed research before applying RFID technology. Managers should be able to understand whether the application will be beneficial for the company or not. Employees must be trained by the managers, in accordance with that. However, keeping in mind the benefits of RFID, the technology is worth an investment References Attaran, M., 2012. What is Theology
Scriptural hermeneutics refers to the art of science of scriptural study and interpretation. It is specifically necessary where a certain concept is not obviously clear. Therefore, there is a possibility of ambiguity in the interpretation as one seeks to understand its meaning.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on What is Theology ââ¬â Faith and Reason in Theology specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This case often arises when a several authors of biblical scriptures discuss a certain concept, but their explanation of it appears to conflict with that of other authors (Ricoeur 56). For instance, in the New Testament, the gospelsââ¬â¢ account of Christââ¬â¢s life and teachings can be contradictory, with Markââ¬â¢s Gospel being the most nonconforming. As a result, such matters and multiple interpretations to similar scriptures result, confusing many Christians in the process. Scriptural hermeneutics offers a so lution to these paradoxical accounts, as it clarifies the inferred meaning through a general study of all scriptures that address a certain issue and by integrating the scriptural inferences that relate to the matter at hand to give it context. Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) specialized in philosophy and of relevance to this paper are his thoughts on the effect of the past on the present. He posits that society, or oneââ¬â¢s surroundings and historical time largely influence human actions and discourse, or language. This means for instance that whatever the ancient authors of the bible wrote borrowed a lot from their day and age, as well as their relations with their respective environments. Ricoeur also points out how one requires a comprehensive understanding of self, first to be in a position of making a correct interpretation of any records. Such an understanding prevents him / her from the text in light of what he/she believes in (Villaverde 481). Instead, he/she is able to interp ret independently of inherent beliefs, attitudes and values, which is the correct interpretation required. Modern readers face a multiplicity of resources that recount the past. It is thus challenging to harmonize the differences represented in these different accounts and glean the true position that their authors wished to portray (Doran 9). Hermeneutics and Ricoeurââ¬â¢s thought process provides a way of doing just that without the bias or prejudicial attitudes that are bound to influence readers. Examples of differing authors are Paul Lonergan and St. Thomas Aquinas whose works contradicted though similar in some aspects. Both Lonergan and Aquinas speak of a natural desire within every rational human being to gain an understanding of matters or concepts that are only comprehensible when in the presence of God (Lonergan 56).Advertising Looking for essay on religion theology? Lonergan expresses this concept is in his publication, ââ¬Å"The Triune Godâ⬠. Secondly, Lonergan believes that an analogical understanding of Godââ¬â¢s nature as a man that is sufficiently comprehensive can develop into divine understanding. On the other hand, Aquinas introduces an intermediate tier between human and divine understanding, which is angelic understanding (Ricoeur 81). According to Aquinas, angels, whom he represents as disembodied spirits, have a better understanding of divinity than men do. Consequently, for one to graduate to divine understanding per Aquinas, one needs to acquire a n angelic understanding prior to achieving divine understanding. Lonergan avoids the use of the faculty of psychology in his works, instead restricting himself to issues like experiencing, understanding and judging. He does this because he believes that taking a psychological viewpoint would stratify crucial aspects of human nature that need to be in harmony for a person to gain comprehensive knowledge. Aquinas, on the other hand, tends to lean towards psychological aspects. Most of his thoughts are on intelligence and will and how these relate to other concepts. This outlook severs crucial aspects of a personââ¬â¢s complete state of mind thereby curtailing their full understanding of various notions. However, both authors believe in the infinity of God, and that He demonstrates this infinity in all his actions (Doran 45). Therefore, to gain a full understanding of the cause of all things, which is a question that most of mankind is preoccupied with, man needs to start off by und erstanding God, who is the initial cause, or rather the starting principle of everything on earth as well as beyond. The two differ when it comes to the issue of how to go about the understanding of God. Works Cited Doran, Robert.
